DO NOW Sorry to nerd out on you again, but…
Homework Homework Please read Chapter 10 in All Quiet and respond to the Essential Question on the edmodo board.
Silent Reading: p. 223-225 • The set up: • Paul is pinned down in a shell-crater by machine gun fire from the French • Suddenly, a French soldier dives into the crater. Without even thinking, Paul stabs the Frenchman with his bayonet, injuring him severely. • Still trapped by the machine gun fire, Paul is forced to sit for hours and watch his “enemy” slowly die. • The assignment: • Keeping in mind the three pieces you read last night, read the pages in All Quiet listed above. • In your reader’s notebook, jot down a list of some of the connections you can make among the pieces. Textual support is always welcome.
Reading Roundtable: Connections How can we connect the pieces, and what text do we have to support those connections? Thomas Hardy – “The Man He Killed” Tim O’Brien – “The Man I Killed” Zachary Scott-Singley – “A Soldier’s Thoughts” blog post Erich M. Remarque – All Quiet, p. 223-225
