What is it? • Students learn for doing outside work • Work in group work to develop skills • Students select on what curriculum they want to learn
What is it? • Expands students educational opportunities • Students are using the internet more for educational purposes • Ex: curriculum material, lesson plans, classroom activities, lectures, homework, assignments and quizzes.
Who are the founders? • A. S Neill- known for his advocate of personal freedom • Carl Rogers- overall review and teacher development
Alexander Sutherland Neil • Summerhill school was founded in 1921. • Influenced educational practices • Free access to art, woodwork and computers. • Bullying, vandalism and other behavioral problems will be handled by the whole community and at meetings • Kids to be adventurous

Carl Rogers • Wants students to live their life to the fullest potential • Motivates kids to do their best • Teaches kids to actually use their potentials • Incorporates nature in with the programs • Teaches that everybody needs love, affection, attention and nurturance.

Teacher/Student/Community Centered? • Student centered because the students are here to learn. The teachers will enforce what needs to be done, but then the students are on their own to get the task done.
