ANCIENT FARMING • Olden days farmers grew different kinds of crops-grains and vegetables-according to the season. • They made use of hand tools and animals for farming • They kept enough grains for their needs and sold the rest.
Modern agriculture includes using machines replacing people, using hybrid variety seeds, using artificial fertilizers using insecticides and using novel methods in agriculture . These improvements have increased the yield of the crops reducing manual work and saving the time spent. Modern methods
Disadvantages of modern farming • Quality of the seed decreases due to the use of hybrid varities. • Growing same type of crops in the same field makes the soil poor in mineral contents. • Causes air pollution due to spraying of insecticides. • Food crops sprayed with insecticides cause threat to human life causing diseases.
