Percent comes from “per cent” meaning “per every hundred” [Like dollars per pound, mph, etc.] The word “cent” is found in our money system (a great analogy for percent.” The word “cent” is found in the words century and centimeters.

  13. Minilesson (con’t): You convert fractions to N/100 by converting the original fraction to an equivalent fraction with denominator of 100. X 5 = 15 % X 5
