Supports in the school years • Very dynamic work going on across Ballymun and many children doing very well • Children in designated disadvantaged areas: lower than average academic, social & emotional skills up to 1 in 3 with serious literacy difficulties more likely to demonstrate behaviour problems including hyperactivity, conduct problems, peer problems • Close link between social & emotional development and learning • Requires integrated strategy of supports at home, in school and the community
