In 2011 children will be invited to pledge to achieve a personal best in an Olympic or Paralympic Sport, individually, with their class, or with their School Sport cluster. • The North and South Stoke School Sport Partnerships would like all KS1 children to take part in the Fitzy Achieve Your Personal Best Basketball Challenge. The Fitzy story “Everyone can Play” (enclosed) has been written to promote the Basketball challenge and also to promote the Olympic and Paralympic values of friendship, excellence, respect and equality. Schools who participate can enter their best results in to a City wide competition. • The competition involves the children doing the following; • Recording the number of baskets scored in one minute (individual task). If the school doesn’t have a basketball backboard or post a hoop can be hand held and a foam ball used. Children to stand a minimum of 2 metres away from the basket/hoop. • Recording the number of consecutive bounces achieved without losing control for both left and right hand (individual task). • Any ball type can be used. • Recording the maximum number of chest passes completed in one minute (pair task). • Recording the maximum number of bounce passes completed in one minute (pair task). • Passing tasks - children stand 3 metres apart.
