KAPPA OIL SERVICES • VII INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE • NEFTEGAZSTANDARDT 2012 • 11-13 September 2012 St. PETERSBURG • Health & Safety: • The management of occupational health and safety is a core issue for any oil and gas company. It enables the Company to: • identify and assess occupational risks at the company, in order to ensure the health and safety of the employees, • • take account of increasingly complex requirements (legal, regulatory, contractual, etc.), www.kos-kappa-group.com 2 Alain LOPPINET
KAPPA OIL SERVICES • VII INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE • NEFTEGAZSTANDARDT 2012 • 11-13 September 2012 St. PETERSBURG • encourage social dialogue by creating the conditions governing employee’s commitment to any project, • improve the risk control policy and continuously reinforce your company's corporate values §§§§§ The purpose of this presentation is to indicate a list of international documents which are useful to reach this health and safety objective . I have to mention here that, until now, ISO did not draft any Health & Safety management document as it was done for quality (ISO 9001), for environment (ISO 14001) or for Sustainable development (ISO 26000) www.kos-kappa-group.com 3

KAPPA OIL SERVICES • VII INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE • NEFTEGAZSTANDARDT 2012 • 11-13 September 2012 St. PETERSBURG 3)BS OHSAS 18001:2007 Occupational Health and Safety Management systems – Requirements. It is the official identical UK implementation of OHAS 18001:2007. The British document will be modified when the OHSAS will be changed. As National foreword, it is mentioned that the organizations have to take into account the legal requirements of the countries if needed. 4) BS OHSAS 18002:2008 Occupational Health and Safety Management systems – Guidelines for the implementation of OHSAS 18001:2007 It is the official identical UK implementation of OHAS 18002:2008. KAPPA OIL SERVICES • VII INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE • NEFTEGAZSTANDARDT 2012 • 11-13 September 2012 St. PETERSBURG 5)ILO-OSH:2001 Guidelines on occupational Safety and Health Management systems This document was drafted by the International Labour Organization, when ISO refuse to write any standard on the subject and proposed ILO to take care (in this organization the workers have a good representation, which is not the case in ISO) In fact you do not find a lot of differences between this document and the OHSAS one, which means that if your organization is complying with the OHSAS management system, it is also complying with the ILO one. In fact the two prime objectives of ILO-OSH are: a) to assist countries in the establishment of the National framework for occupational Safety and Health Management systems b) to provide guidance to individual organization regarding the integration of OH&S elements into their policy and management arrangements. www.kos-kappa-group.com 8
KAPPA OIL SERVICES • VII INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE • NEFTEGAZSTANDARDT 2012 • 11-13 September 2012 St. PETERSBURG • Nevertheless, some differences exist in both systems: • ILO-OSH guidelines are focused on WORKERS • OHSAS ones are focused on persons under the control of an organization or other interested parties (which is broader). • ILO-OSHrecommends that the employer should ensure the establishment of health & safety committees. • OHSAS requires a procedure for communication, participation and consultation and to involve interested parties (which is broader). • ILO-OSHindicates that training should be provided to all participants at no cost and during the working hours. • OHSAS does not require anything www.kos-kappa-group.com 9
