FQ 2 of 2 What are auxiliary lines and when do we use them? Many proofs involve lines, rays, or segments that do not appear in the original diagram. These additions to the diagram are auxiliary lines. Most auxiliary lines connect 2 pts. already in the diagram. From the figure: Drawing a line through pt. H we create angles that allow us to use our postulates and theorems to find angle measures. See Ex. 2 GP pg. 136 #11-13
