  1. Introduction Films without technology is impossible today. I will do present to you how technology has advanced and the affects this has had on the films industry today. Also present to you of what I have learnt about using technology Thriller opening. Today's technology are known as ‘new media technology’? This really means that device that allows users to digitally transfer and edit. So this could be stored from CD-ROMS to allow us edit with an editing software and store it in DVD to sell and view.

  2. Why is technology is important? Technology is the everything of any film, even those from black and white viewing days from 50s and before. Its common sense no video camera, no filming(production) and no film screening which is no film at all!! Filming from back in the days from the silent era. Today sound is an important element of film

  3. How technology has advanced? Technology is constantly developing over the years. Thank technology of today that we don’t see black and white filming and the sound were silent- no dialogue and sound at all (very important convention in thriller genre or in general in film). Now we have the capability of being able to film using not so expensive cameras that capture an actors performance. The pitcure quality improved dramatically over the years from stantard pictures to 1080p HD video, IMAX viewing. After all those years, 3D screening is having there major success like the biggest grossing film ever- Avatar (2009) Matrix (1999) uses a special effect called ‘Bullet time’ Avatar started the 3D trend

  4. How technology changed the ways films are produced Technology has also allowed virtually anyone to actually make/ Produce a film. Because today there are cheap ways to record digital film e.g cheap video camera. This means more amateur filmmaker can produce films, that you could not do before. People can record videos on phones and other media products and then quickly and edit them together on computer software, like imovie and final cut pro x. So in general making films can be done by anyone. Cross media convergence is the technical term that how single media platforms (mobile phone – which make calls) have been merged together to create media devices(smarthphones- can browse the web, take photo, play games and more). Let say, most of these home-made films its not par with films made by pro. If amateur filmmakers use the technology like an editing software they can make a high quality film. An example below of how we use technology of producing our film.

  5. How has technology changed the ways films are distributed? Distribution in technology have allowed films to be advertised for specific audiences or ways that capture a massive audience at once. Distributors are concerned with the promotion and marketing of their films. Technology of today, not only traditional way adverting on tv but can ad using other marketing tools. Like the example adverts on YouTube videos and facebook ad page pop up. This allows films to reach out to people then ever then before. Traditionally big Hollywood blockbuster studious that have loads of money to spend on advertising their film and getting it out there, but independent studious like us which have a low budget and very hard to attract a large audience. How on earth are we supposed to compete with those filming superpowers. However a new of marketing is new exposed thanks to social media. For example, Richard Ayoade's film Submarine (2010), it is an independent film that haven’t have the budget of big studious. So they used social media networking sites like Facebook to make their film known – This happened by the quick spreading of the film around the social website, almost like a 'trend'. This allowing them to get their film out there on a very low budget like I say before. So the developments in distribution caused by technology has it ups and downs, the fact that it allows blockbuster films to reach a huge target audience, but as a result leaves some films in the dark if they have a smaller budget. So smaller studios have to be creative and unique to get film out there.

  6. How technology changed the ways films are Exhibited Technology has also added whole new levels to the exhibition of films. Today it can be accessible to consumers. Consumers can watch films on almost any media device. For example films can be downloaded to phones, tablets and also be streamed or downloaded via online websites like Netflix and LoveFilm to a computer or stored on an external hard drive - this meaning that films are getting a larger audience and also making more money due to online downloads. However every good has a bad. As you can download a film illegally or buy prate copies of it. and can straight away make big losses for revenue of big studios or us.

  7. How we used technology in our production We used Final Cut Pro, a programmed exclusive free to Mac, I never used the software before so it’s a great time to learn some new key skill in film production- Editing Why was final cut pro x better then windows movie maker? When cropping and sloting the pieces of film on a timeline it was almost the same as windows move maker, element of the programme is really better than windows movie maker when it comes to the effects, filters, sounds. There are hardly any transition on wmm and it looks cheesy. But compare to fcp x it looks more professional, an special effect of cctv of our opening says it all.

  8. What skills you have learned and will use I’ve learnt a lot about new technologies over the past few months of making my groups thriller film opening. I already knew about the new technologies that we going to use for our film like a video camera. I already knew that technology what we need to make a film. I learned to be professional when using the camera as I am the main cameraman, knowing how much of an powerful tool that a video camera is. FCP X is new software that I am introduced to- at first it took a while to get use to, even getting use to using a Mac as I am a pc user. After weeks of training and using the software, I learned a key skill which is an ‘art of cinema’. From now on I will download fcp x and use it in the future when editing. One day I could make a business out of it or be a pro editor as my day job.
