What are sources? • Sources are the places in which you find information such as books, websites, encyclopedias, videos, etc.
How do I find sources? • Followrecommendations by yourteachers and librarian • You will have to have 1 print source and 2 Internet sources
Print Sources • Look in the librarycatalog (Mrs. Roe has donethis for you) • If there are not books devoted to yourtopic, look in the indexes of books on the cart • If stillnothing, check the encylopedia or a biographicaldictionary
There’sNothing! • If youcan’tfindanything, check withyourteacher. Mrs. Roe let him or her know if there are no printresourcesavailable
Internet sources • Internet sources canbetricky! Pay attention! • Use the suggestions fromyourteachers and librarian • Check the librarywebsite!
Internet sources - WhydoesitMatterwhat I use? • Anyonecan put whatevertheywant on the Internet • You wantreliable information – FACTS!
Whatshould I NOT use? • Wikis – Theseallow people otherthan the author to edit the site. • That’s right no Wikipedia or Answers.com. These are fine for quick neededanswers but not for trueresearch.
WhatshouldI use? • Use reliablesearchenginesthat have evaluatedwebsites as theirresults • Sweetsearch • Internet Public Library • RefSeek • Webpath Express • Check the library’swebsite! • Use Google as a last resort

Bibliography • You have to cite your sources! (This means tell where you got your information.) • For print sources – use the Bibliographic Guide to help you
