  1. Surah al Baqarah Ayahs 177 – 182

  2. Ayah 177 Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is [in] one who believes in Allah , the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets and gives wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveler, those who ask [for help], and for freeing slaves; [and who] establishes prayer and gives zakah; [those who] fulfill their promise when they promise; and [those who] are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are the righteous.

  4. آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ

  5. وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ

  6. Prophets, Books, Angels

  7. وَآتَى الْمَالَ عَلَى حُبِّهِ

  8. ذَوِي الْقُرْبَى

  9. ذَوِي الْقُرْبَى “You will never spend anything seeking thereby the Countenance of Allah, but you will be rewarded for it, even (the morsel) that you put in your wife’s mouth.” [Bukhari & Muslim] “If a Muslim spends on his family, seeking reward for that with Allah, then it will an act of charity on his part.”  [Bukhari & Muslim]

  10. وَالْيَتَامَى

  11. وَالْمَسَاكِينَ

  12. وَابْنَ السَّبِيلِ

  13. وَالسَّائِلِينَ

  14. وَفِي الرِّقَابِ

  15. وَأَقَامَ الصَّلاةَ [and who] establishes prayer What does it mean to establish prayer? => To fulfill its conditions => To pray as the Prophet (saw) prayed: وَصَلُّوا كَمَا رَأَيْتُمُونِي أُصَلِّي وَآتَى الزَّكَاةَ and gives zakāh; This refers to the obligatory charity. It is given to the deserving heads, who have been mentioned in the Qur’an, which you will study later on. So it is piety to give Zakah. And giving Zakah is one of the pillars of Deen

  16. وَالموفُونَ بِعَهْدِهِمْ إِذَا عَاهَدُواْ

  17. وَالصَّابِرِينَ

  18. أُوْلَئِكَ الَّذِينَ صَدَقُوا They Do what they say and say what they do

  19. وَأُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْمُتَّقُونَ

  20. Reflect!If every single person implemented this ayah, what would be the state of theMuslims today?

  21. Ayah 178 O you who have believed, prescribed for you is legal retribution for those murdered - the free for the free, the slave for the slave, and the female for the female. But whoever overlooks from his brother anything, then there should be a suitable follow-up and payment to him with good conduct. This is an alleviation from your Lord and a mercy. But whoever transgresses after that will have a painful punishment.

  23. Way of Taking Qisas One who Kills be Held Accountable

  24. فَمَنْ عُفِيَ لَهُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ شَيْءٌ

  25. How is it a وَرَحْمَةٌ 1. The murderer is not killed, 2. and the issue is resolved in the dunya

  26. فَمَنِ اعْتَدَى بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَلَهُ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

  27. Example

  28. Ayah 179 And there is for you in legal retribution [saving of] life, O you [people] of understanding, that you may become righteous.

  30. وَلَكُمْ فِي الْقِصَاصِ حَيَاةٌ Fear of Death for the Murderer Punishment of Murderer becomes an Ibrah Doors of Evil are closed

  31. يَاْ أُولِيْ الأَلْبَابِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ

  32. Ayah 180 Prescribed for you when death approaches [any] one of you if he leaves wealth [is that he should make] a bequest for the parents and near relatives according to what is acceptable - a duty upon the righteous.

  33. إِن تَرَكَ خَيْرًا الْوَصِيَّةُ لِلْوَالِدَيْنِ وَالأَقْرَبِينَ

  34. Person’s Discretion Prescribed by Allah

  35. بِالْمَعْرُوفِ 1. By not making a bequest for his heirs - because they already have a share from his inheritance. 2. And not willing more than 1/3

  36. Example $60,000 Non Heirs $20,000 Heirs $40,000

  37. The Prophet (s.a.w) said: It is the duty of a Muslim who has something which is to be given as a bequest not to have it for two nights without having his will written down regarding it. [Muslim]

  38. Ayah 181 Then whoever alters the bequest after he has heard it - the sin is only upon those who have altered it. Indeed, Allah is Hearing and Knowing.

  40. Ayah 182 But if one fears from the bequeather [some] error or sin and corrects that which is between them, there is no sin upon him. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
