  1. Technical Area Report Byron Ellacott Technical Area Manager

  2. Key Deliverables • Delivering Value • Improving monitoring and redundancy on all IPv4 and IPv6 services • Improving webcasting experience • Supporting Internet Development • DNSSEC • Enabling anycast cloud

  3. Key Deliverables • Collaborating and Communicating • Collaborating with NRO and IETF on global RPKI system • Provision of software and expertise to AfriNIC with RPKI • Corporate Support • Implementing AGILE software development

  4. Delivering Value • Treating IPv6 and IPv4 as equally important for all services, including service availability monitoring • Working to improve the webcasting experience, including distributed webcast servers

  5. Supporting Internet Development • Rolled out DNSSEC, and reported on our experience and observations at this meeting • Enabling an anycast cloud for our zones in the coming weeks, and will report our observations at the next meeting

  6. DNSSEC Public NS Database Members Master Master 1. Sign zones on test service 2. Push sign to public service 3. Accept and publish Member DS Test NS

  7. Collaborating and Communicating • Working with the NRO and the IETF to put a global RPKI system into operation at the end of the year • Production of global system creating validatable ROAs

  8. Collaborating and Communicating • Provided software and expertise to AfriNIC to help with their RPKI system development • Working with the other RIRs to provide DNSSEC for the ERX resource space

  9. Corporate Support • Implementing Agile software development processes to improve our efficiency • Using site redundancy to provide more resilience to site failures such as air conditioning and generator disruptions, or third party physical interruptions • Working towards “triangle architecture” connecting both co-locations and the APNIC office

  10. Other Highlights IPv6 Deployment: Leading by Example • IPv6 implementation at APNIC in key services • MyAPNIC   • Whois queries   • IPv6 ICONS wiki   • DNS servers   • www.apnic.net server   • Email servers   • FTP servers   • Online chat

  11. Other Highlights Research and Development • Measuring “background radiation” • “Toxic” blocks • Common base-line measurements • Measuring IPv6 adoption • Relativity of native, 6to4, Teredo • Trends approaching exhaustion • A view of the edge
