SAMPE Chapter Relations Meeting 11/7/2012“Considerations for Getting High Attendance Levels at Chapter Events” • Have a dedicated chapter representative for the event organization role • Have the events on the same day every month (e.g. 3rd Wednesday of the month • Publicize the event early through email, chapter website, monthly newsletter, and LinkedIn • Email distribution should include SAMPE members and “Friends of SAMPE” • Build “Friends of SAMPE” email list…candidates for membership • Recruit good speakers, pay travel if necessary • Minimize the cost to SAMPE members and students, free if possible • Social mixer key part of event, prior to speaker and dinner • “Door Trolls” plug for membership and give badges at events • Meeting location strategy can vary with Chapter- some rotate sites to get key participation (e.g. students) • Attendance goal would at least 30% of total number of chapter members
