Determining Impact of Horticulture Diagnostic Services • 2005 Quad-County Horticulture Diagnostic Evaluation • UW-Milwaukee Center for Urban Initiative and Research conducted survey and analysis • 2-part phone survey • Satisfaction • Pesticides • Created a database of client information • Consumer clients only • Collected data April – September
The Survey • Universal log sheet • Log sheet used at all contact sites • Collected complete call information • Sent log sheets each month to UW-Milwaukee to enter into a database • 22 satisfaction questions, 7 pesticide questions, demographic information • 836 people were reached and responded to our survey
The Results • They Like Us! They Really Like Us!
Results of the Pesticide Survey • Attempted to pull out group of clients who called about chemical use • Sample size not large enough to draw conclusive results • No significant data collected • We do not recommend chemical use to most clients because in most cases it is not necessary
Next Steps • Sharing evaluation results with stakeholders • County Board Members • Community members • Volunteers • Commercial Industry • Developing marketing pieces for each county and the Quad • Continue to use database to track our contacts

Just like you get a diagnosis when you go to the doctor, when you bring us a sick plant you also get a diagnosis. We’ll ask you questions about the age of the plant, the environment where the plant lives and how you care for the plant. Often with that information we can diagnose your plant problem and give you information about what you can do. Sometimes plant problems cannot be identified in our offices and then we turn to the University of Wisconsin diagnostic clinics—our specialists. In cooperation with the Plant Disease Diagnostic Clinic, Insect Diagnostic Lab, Turf Diagnostic Lab and the Soil Testing Lab the we can answer almost any question you might have.
