  2. 2 be connected A pioneering project • Funded by ESF 2009-2015 with 3.5m • The first consortium of public and private Universities operating in the Republic of Cyprus • An example of active, lasting and successful cooperation

Added value for students through the internship programme-opportunity to: • gain hands-on business experience • develop the mindset & skillset required to have a successful career • realize that academic degree titles – though valuable- are not enough • appreciate the importance of soft skills • experience the workplace BEFORE taking decisions for further studies • explore new areas of interest, discover strengths - weaknesses, • decide early what they like or do not like • Knowledge – skills - communication

Key priorities of the Project: • maximize opportunities for student recruitment through a framework regulating placements • narrow the gap and communicate the value of research results to benefit Business and vice versa. • demonstrate the value of UB cooperation Through student placements and internships ILOS provide : • opportunity for the introduction of new ideas and original approaches by students • enrich local business environment • provide opportunity to business to recruit & retain talents

Project Numbers • 859 profiles of academic/research personnel from all Universities featuring in the ILO web portal https://iloportal.ucy.ac.cy/ • 881 business profiles from all over Cyprus uploaded into the ILO portal • 224 Research laboratories-profiles collected (details of infrastructure, equipment and areas of expertise) • 36 newMoUs(active) signed between Universities and enterprises

  6. Project Numbers • the consortium (7 ILO’s) placed more than 2472 students in business (vs ESF initial goal 400) • dissemination and promotional activities took place all over Cy with material produced and distributed • 6 successful workshops and 1 conference organised involving all UB stakeholders
