Session outline • Work to be done to prepare for Exam Board: entering and checking data in BIRMS • BOXI reports to use at each stage • Amendments to be made to BIRMS as a result of Exam Board recommendations • Checks to make prior to release of results • Releasing data from BIRMS to Banner and student portal • Sources of help and advice
Tools to aid the process • Pre and Post Exam Board checklists to guide you through what needs to be done at each stage • Copies of the checklists will be available at • www.as.bham.ac.uk/eos/trainingdocuments.shtml • BOXI report finder to help you identify the most suitable reports for your School/Department
Checklists • You can use the pre and post Exam Board checklists for key information on what to do at each stage.
BOXI reports • Options available: • Grid or list-multiple students or single student per page • Finalists or non finalists • Anonymous tabs in some reports • Export tabs to allow you to export to Excel and manipulate reports to suit the needs of your Exam Board
Example reports: UG Degree Classification Automatically Calculated • Grid style • Final Years, shows working out • Typically 2 pages per student UG/1 page for GT • Option to exclude Level C
Results Summary (list style) • List style, multiple students per page • Use for UG/GT • Most suitable for non finalists • Tabs give option to anonymise by listing by ID number only
Summary of key points • It is important to keep to the deadlines as other events depend on the results being available at the specified time • Seek advice if unsure-call EOS helpline 58009 or consult the 2011 Examination Guidance • Enter marks and recommendations for all students (taking into account PAB referrals and holds) • Students will see their results on the portal as soon as you release them so do not release until final checks have been carried out • Remember to enter marks and ARTs for Affiliate students
