  2. What is Freedom of Speech? Freedom of speech is the right for people to express any of their opinions publicly without government interfering.

  3. Origins of freedom of speech • The right to have free speech has largely developed over the past years. Example : Church

  4. Countries that do and don’t have freedom of speech Don't: • North Korea • Republic of China • Russian Federation • Etc. • Do: • England • France • Australia • Canada • United States • Etc. About 61 countries were ranked partly free and 64 countries were ranked not free .

  5. What happens to countries without freedom of speech? People who live in a country without freedom of speech have their civil rights often suspended, based on other factors they may also persecuted.

Why do some countries not have freedom of speech? • Some countries don’t have freedom of speech because of their own history. • Some countries elected Politian's who have changed their constitution and eliminated their freedom of speech. • Other countries have had revolutions, or civil wars to put their leaders as dictators who suspended their civil rights like freedom of speech.

  7. What is a democracy? A democracy is a system of government by the whole population or all the qualified members of a state, typically through elected representatives

  8. Does Canada have freedom of speech? Canada has freedom of speech, it is protected under the Canadian charter of rights and freedoms.

  9. Can we change places without freedom of speech? In many ways yes we can change places without freedom of speech. We can support and encourage oppressive government to take steps towards democracy, and decrease their grip on power. When violent or peaceful protest/ revolutions occur we can support the opposition to a reasonable extent.

  10. Freedom of speech in journalism In theory , due to their employers interests there is often a bias. Also based on what country they are from may promote propaganda.
