UNIT 1 • Course Description - This course explores human behavior in organizations. Students examine individual behavior, attitudes, personality, values, perception, and emotions and how these affect organization outcomes. The course also looks at the theories, concepts, and application of motivation as well as the importance of stress management and professional ethics and etiquette. Students gain an understanding and appreciation for communication processes, channels, and styles. They also gain a set of organizational design tools.
Course Outcomes: By the end of this course, you should be able to: • MT302-1: Assess the impact of organizational behavior on business outcomes • MT302-2: Apply theories of motivation to increase employee performance • MT302-3: Explain the causes, symptoms, and coping strategies for stress • MT302-4: Evaluate the role of ethics and social responsibility in the context of organizational behavior • MT302-5: Explain the communication process and its relationship to employee effectiveness
