  2. Joan Miró was born in the city of Barcelona in the Northeastern part of Spain in 1893.

  3. Surrealism Joan Miró was a surrealist artist. Surrealism is the opposite of realism. In surrealism, it is the world of dreams and the subconscious that is the “real world” rather than the world we experience in waking life.

  4. Joan Miró Miró traditionally used primary colors in his works including red, yellow, and blue.

  5. There is definitely an element of surprise in his paintings. The figures and forms are of the dream world from which Miró took his inspiration.
