What are we going to do? • Analyse old myths • We intend to analyse old oral tradition, the old myths and to promote them. Myths are the legends of gods, heroes or mysterious myth creatures. They clarify old people's beliefs, their understanding of structure of the world the their moral values. • Encourage reading • We will encourage children to read, will help to familiarize themselves with the oral tradition, the nation's mythical stories, their significance. • Share stories between partners • The project partners will share their nations’ old stories; will discuss the plot and characters: look for similarities. • Present the stories • We will present the stories, how they were narrated, what they meant for people. This is a great opportunity to get acquainted with the country’s traditions,culture, ways of thinking.
Four phases: • The1st phase: students will get familiar with their countries’ most popular and most typical mythological stories, will present them in a variety of ways. • In the 2nd phase the students will get known to their own and other countries ' stories, which explains the beginning of the world, according to national myths/legends and secrets of the nature. • The 3rd part of the project is designed to characterize and present mythological characters. • The4th phase we’ll get familiar with the heroes of mythological stories and their remarkable activities. Students will compare them with the most famous nowadays persons.
What is the project about – our purpose • provide cultural knowledge • promote creativeness • show that all ethnic cultures are based on the same human values • help the to develop self-confidence, self-esteem, expand pupils’ horizons • develop the ability to speak English in real situations • improve ICTskills • For pupils with difficult socio-economic conditions - this would be a great opportunity to travel and experience European cultures. • teachers will share formal and non-formal education modern methods
Project products and outcomes: • Booklet of the project • Comenius corners (at all schools) • The illustrated letters for closer acquaintance of pupils and teachers • Logo of the project • Thematic web page • Presentations of legends and stories in general, kind of stories we have in our countries • National mythological stories translated into English • Prepared information about local/national culture and traditions: the originalenvironment where the stories were told • Fair of European languages: video clips of art reading of mythological stories • Drama plays based on stories about the beginning of the world, nature secrets • Photos of landscapes: “Where did the mythological creatures live?” • PowerPoint encyclopaedia of mythological characters • Essays of creative writing • Material of traditional festive with mythological reflections. • Presentations of modern heroes • Magazine of the project
