Elective combinations of component technologies (crop/tree, livestock, and water/soil) addressing location specific, priority commodities will improve HH productivity and nutrition and enhance income • Project research outputs addressed: 1 and 2 • Hypothesis one (addresses Research hypothesis 1)
Tested and piloted combinations of component technologies (crop/tree, livestock, and water/soil) addressing increase productivity of market led (demand driven) commodities are more likely to be adopted by HH to increase income and improve nutrition • Project research outputs addressed: 1, 2 and 3 • Hypothesis two (addresses research hypothesis 2)
Output 1 activities • Baseline survey (including nutritional status and food consumption) (IFPRI) • Diagnostic survey • Yield gap survey • Establishment and operation of MSPs • Output 2 activities • Introduce, test and validate technologies • Crop varieties (cereals, legumes and vegetables) • Livestock (poultry, small ruminants, pigs, Milk ) • Soil and water management • Hypothesis 1: Activities
Output 2 activities • Hypothesis 1: Activities
Output 1 activities • Market sector analysis • Introduce, test and adapt labour saving devices • Evaluate nutrition and processing quality characteristics is affected by soil types and fertilizer • Assess and improve processing methods that retain more nutrients • Introduce and test the acceptability of nutritionally enhanced crops • Hypothesis 2: Activities
Output 2 • Training on all components of the value chain
Writing team? • Specific individuals? • Research team? • Generic functions required? • Specific institutions and individuals? • Who should be part of the research team for hypothesis 1?
Development partners • Other ‘knowledge’ partners • Specific institutions (and individuals)? • Who could we partner with around hypothesis 1?
Relating to program hypotheses: • Activities (specify in table) • Hypothesis 2:
