Basic info about the school • Non state elementary school in Prague (tuition: 28 355 Kč/1y). • Established in 1998. • Faculty school of UK.
Why is this school special? • Goal of the school – to provide each student with extra care. • Family atmosphere. • Reduced number of students in one class -> it enables to respect individual needs of every students. • Integration of handicapped students and students from different cultures.
Why is this school special? • The lessons start at 8:30 and there is no ring (at the beginning or end of the lesson). • Students get only verbal evaluation till 3rd grade. • Cooperation with parents – parents have the chance to be engaged into the learning process. • Max. capacity of school – 150 pupils.
Other interesting things • Each students has special book = a „diary“ with marks, week plans, evaluations… • Students receive an evaluation every month from the their teacher • Students without any special needs are shown the videos of people with special needs so they know how to behave towards the person ahead. • English – from the 1st class. • Students travel with school abroad (or Czech Republic) usually twice a year.
Special pedagogical teacher – takes students from class (max. 2 at one time) and deals with them individually (Tourette syndrome, dis…) – they have a special year plan
Other interesting things • Animals – every class has its own pet/s which they take off. • Very nice place for students – couches, ping pong table, garden, computers, flowers, shelves with books (Czech, English…) for all different ages, buffet, painted walls, computer class… • Disadvantage – some classes are interconnecting (you have to go through them into the other class – frequent distractions. • A game room = where children can spent free time till their parents come to pick them up. • Children can participate in a school parliament they are more involved into the running of their school.
