  1. Jason and Phil like to ride their bikes through mud puddles. However, their mom does not like the fact that mud splashes all over their backs. It is very difficult for her to get their clothes clean. Phil saw an ad in a magazine for fenders he could put on his bike. Phil decided to purchase a set of the fenders and placed them on his bike for one week. Jason did not purchase the fenders and continued to ride his bike as usual. Their mom noticed that Phil’s shirts were much cleaner than Jason’s the next week she did laundry.
