  2. logon or su to root start smit (system management interface tool)

  3. Click on Print Spooling

  4. Click on Add a Print Queue

  5. Click on Remote

  6. Click on Local filtering before sending to print server

  7. Click on Other

  8. Click on Generic

  9. PCL Emulation: new queuename HOSTNAME: pingable hostname of DC (DNS or /etc/hosts) Name of remote Queue: lp Type of remote spooler: BSD PASS-THROUGH: no

  10. This screen indicates that the new printer was successfully added

  11. Test a sample print job by sending a file (in this case /etc/hosts)

  12. Printer Setup Changes run smit click on Change / Show Print Queue Characteristics

  13. Enter printer queuename

  14. Click on Default Print Job Attributes

  15. Typestyle and Pitch size can be changed (scroll down)

  16. Carriage Return is added to Line Feed by Default which fixes stair-stepping (scroll down)

  17. Page Orientation Tray Call (simulates HPlj4) Paper Size Duplexing click ok to save changes

  18. To include additional PCL escape sequences into the print queue filter enter the command lsvirprt

  19. Type the number corresponding to the desired print queue

  20. To edit with ed type ~v To edit with vi type ci~v
