Five Major Areas of Concern • Rethink mission in light of changing times • Formulate a comprehensive program to evaluate institutional effective, including clear qualitative and quantitative measurement of student learning • Balance between full deliberation of policies and timely adoption and implementation • Expand and deepen research program • Take steps to assure financial security

Characteristics of Academic Institutions • Integrity in all of its activities through humane and equitable policies • Clearly stated mission and goals appropriate to resources and constituencies • Clearly stated admission and other student policies • Student services appropriate to educational, personal, and career needs of students • Faculty with appropriate professional qualifications to programs and mission and goals • Programs and courses which develop general intellectual skills • Curricula which emphasize education in arts and sciences • Sufficient library/learning resources and services
