Several reasons for reduced enrolment and graduates figures: • The increasing number of higher education institutions in Slovenia, • The lower birth rate in Slovenija, • Current law which allows to enrol twice to complete university studies, • 65% of all students are occasional or temporary employed, • Fictive enrolment. • Average duration of study in Sloveniais 5,9 years while in engineering faculties is 6,3 years
Survey • 63,5% of enrolled students completed the survey; • 2/3 of all respondents intend to pursue a career on board ship after graduation; • The main reason for choosing Maritime studies is the possibility of higher employment and good salaries; • Some of respondents intend to seek employment in the maritime institutions
