New Challenges - Ambient Intelligence Around us ... Micro-capsule Products and equipment at the service of individuals … inside us ?
ERCIM – WG “Dependable software-intensive (embedded) Systems” • New challenges through new dimensions of system attributes: • context awareness (identification, localization, interactions persons – objects) • Intelligence (digital environment adapts to (mobile) objects, persons, and interact independently – new fascinating services) • natural interaction (human language, gestures, speech systems) • personalization (user centered, dynamic adaption, to changing situations, user profiles/preferences) • Dependability (time dynamics, timely responsiveness, security, safety, availability, ….) • Low Power Management, wireless/mobile, seamless communication • Hard real time applications (automotive, aerospace, railways, process control, medical devices, communications, …) and challenges of composability, COTS, (ultra-) high confidence design and certification, security and predictability)
ERCIM – WG “Dependable software-intensive (embedded) Systems” • Proposed work program items: • Experience exchange • Joint position papers on relevant issues • Information exchange with organisations, WGs and committees where ERCIM members are active, decision building process • WG meetings adjacent to other relevant meetings/conferences (Euromicro, EWICS, SAFECOMP, ….) • „Virtual WG“: web site, discussion board • Contributions to ERCIM news (# 52 !!) • One major event per year ? (may be in combination with existing Event, but specific session, tutorial etc.) • Co-operation in EU-FP6 • Co-operation in standardization and awareness building processes Decision: Full ES – scope !!!
