Issues with the GPHIN – production prototype • Gathers news reports primarily in English with limited French • Need to support WHO official languages • English, French, Spanish, Russian, Simplified Chinese and Arabic • Events detection based on a limited list of keywords • No state-of-the-art text-mining • No real time translation of news report • Need to manually render reports in the analyst’s native language • Production prototype was not robust, scalable nor scope-able • No collaboration process
