Email dated November 13, 2009 Dear Professor Shukla, I apologize for being a poor correspondent. Your e-mails are not going into the “junk” file. But the bigger problem, for my responsiveness, than the 200 e-mails from “outside” I get per day are the 50 (and the 10 phone calls) I get from the West Wing – which ensure that I never get around to responding to most of the outside inquiries and proposals. I will try to make the time to reflect on your suggestions and get the reactions of others who work on these matters in OSTP, and will then see if we can find a way to move forward. I will get back to you. -John Holdren Assistant to the President for Science and Technology Director, Office of Science and Technology Policy
