Relative Relationship • A major and minor scale that have the same key signature have a RELATIVE relationship. • To find any relative minor of any major scale, find the 6TH scale degree (of the major scale) • That is the TONIC of the relative minor.
Relative Minor • To find the relative MAJOR of a minor key, find the third degree of the minor scale. • This tone is the TONIC of the relative major key.
Parallel Relationship • A major and minor scale that begin on the same tonic note are said to be in PARALLEL relationship.
