What is Manorialism • Manorialism or the manorial system, is the political, economic, and social system by which peasants of medieval Europe were dependent on their land and on their lord. • Its basic unit was the manor, a self sufficient estate or fief that was under the control of a lord who enjoyed a variety of rights over it and the peasants attached to it by means of serfdom. • Serfdom was the enforced labor of serfs on the field of landowners, in return for protection and the right to work on their leased fields.

  3. Manorialism and Feudalism • Under Manorialism, labor provided protection and land and the peasants and nobles of the manor worked through mutualism. All of which are significant components of Feudalism.
