Norman Ollestad • Norman Ollestad was born 1968. • Grew up in the wild times of Topanga beach. • His mom and dad where divorced and his moms boy friend Nick, a abusive man, was always hurting him and putting him down. • His dad was like a daredevil and he pushed Norman to the limits in sports. • Norman was in a plane crash when he was 11 which changed the course of his life for ever. • This is his only book and he has no awards so far.
Setting, plot, main characters, conflicts, and themes • The setting was in the early days of Topanga state beach, Mexico and the San Gabriel Mountains. • The main characters are Norman, his Mom, her boyfriend Nick, his Dad Norman Sr., and his girlfriend Sandra. • The conflicts were between Norman dealing with his parents divorce. Norman having to deal with moms boyfriend and dads girlfriend. And having to deal with his dad pushing him to the limits. • The theme would be to live your life to the fullest.
The plane crash • Norman was only eleven years old when the plane that he , his dad and his dads girlfriend crashed in the San Gabriel Mountains. • His father and the planes pilot were killed on impact. • Norman was left to find a way down the mountain for he and his dads girlfriend who had been hurt badly in the crash. • Unfortunately, his dads girlfriend died on the way and Norman was left to navigate his way down the frigid mountain himself to safety. • In one of the many articles about book one quote stood out the most which was “dads lessons save 11 year old boys life”
Normans dad • Normans dad was part of the FBI and wrote a book called “Inside the FBI” • His dad also was in the original cheaper by the dozen. • One year he took his son Norman down to Mexico to visit his grandparents and had a great yet, crazy time. • Out of any one in Normans life he would be Noramans greatest role model.
