2. Location • The state of Hawaii is a bunch of islands situated in the north pacific ocean about 24,000 miles west south west of San Francisco, California

3. History • Hawaii is also known as the aloha state and became one of the 50 states in 1959 • Hawaii was a native kingdom until the 19th century.

4. U.S involvement • In the 19th century the U.S. got involved with Hawaii's economy by taking part in the sugar and pineapple production industries which allowed the U.S. to make money

5. Why the U.S got involved • The U.S felt that if they didn’t annex Hawaii soon they would lose the territory to France or England • The benefits for the U.S. were money from Hawaii's production industries

6. The action taken by the US • The big question was whether or not to annex Hawaii • The US Intervened by negotiating with Hawaii and the other countries involved (France and England) to come to an agreement • The agreement was for America to openly trade with Hawaii

7. Who was president? What Forces were used? • William McKinley was president during this time • The force used was a treaty which annexed Hawaii By the US

8. Hawaii's reaction • The only ones in Hawaii who benefitted from annexation were the sugar kings • Besides the sugar kings Hawaii as a whole didn’t gain or lose much

9. Evaluation • Hawaii was a country ruled by a queen and now we use it as a place of getting our sugar and pineapples …. It is now a great destination for travelers tourist and a great vacation spot for anyone today so you can learn about there cultures.
