Project Overview • Two generation upgrade, current technology 9 years old • Replace existing Cisco with Aruba • Aruba is new UCSF standard • Optimized AP placement / coverage • Wall to wall coverage with the exception of stairwells and elevators. • 5x greater capacity
Migration Plan • Installation of all new access points (APs) and cabling throughout hospital prior to upgrade is in progress. • Dual Team approach: • Migration Team – Cutover from Cisco to Aruba. • Problem ResolutionTeam – Resolve any wireless problems related to the upgrade. • Upgrade will start in basement and move up on a floor-by-floor basis. • Special planning considerations for ORs and ICUs.
Communication Plan • CTG Meeting – Thursday, 8/7 • IT Nursing Committee – Friday, 8/15 • Nursing Leadership Meeting – Thursday, 8/21 • Manager’s Weekly – Friday, 8/22 • IT Notification from ITSD – Monday, 9/8 • Daily Update Notification from ITSD – During migration
Proposed Schedule * Flex • Connectivity issues anticipated during the cutover on each floor. • IT staff will be on-site to resolve wireless issues during and after the migration. • IT Command Center will be in effect to coordinate efforts.
Testing • The following wireless devices have been tested, or will complete testing, on the Aruba network prior to upgrade: * Device testing being finalized.
