Hind Leys/LALS - A Brief History • Phase 3 Community College 1976 - 10% additional funding • Reduced to Phase 2 equivalent • FEFC/LSC funding to LEA via Colleges • LALS Failed ALI Inspection 2004 • Restructure 2005 – Centralised Management • Passed ALI Inspection 2005 with Grade 2 L&M • Funding reduced and redirected by LSC • Restructure 2007- Hind Leys no longer staffed as a LALS base. Classes only.

  3. Changes since 2007 • One Service managed centrally • Managers with Curriculum Specialism • District Managers • Less staff, fewer colleges, more outreach • More substantial/career tutors • New priorities • Community Development is central

  4. Curriculum Specialism • Arts and Sports and Fitness • Languages • ICT • Care, Vocational and Hospitality • Skills for Life (Maths & English) and ESOL • Learning Support (LDD & Mental Health) • Community Learning-Skills for Jobs • Family Learning • Learning in Children’s Centres (LiCC)

  5. New Priorities • New Learners • Disadvantaged Communities • Community and Family Learning • First Steps Courses • Skills for Life, ESOL, ICT • Get Into Work Programmes • Learning In Children’s Centres Project

Shepshed Provision 2010/11 • Courses in Local N Charnwood Brochure (gives information about courses in places near by not just Shepshed) • Evening programme at Hind Leys (Tues & Wed) • Daytime programme at Library, Council Offices • Family Learning in most schools 2009/10 (close working with ESCO for Shepshed) will continue and extended to Children’s Centre via LiCC Project
