2. K-20 Mission and Goals Section 1008.31, Florida Statutes, establishes the mission and goals of Florida’s K-20 education system:
Mission:
“Increase the proficiency of all students within one seamless, efficient system, by allowing them the opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills through learning opportunities and research valued by students, parents, and communities.”
Goals:
1. Highest Student Achievement
2. Seamless Articulation and Maximum Access
3. Skilled Workforce and Economic Development
4. Quality Efficient Services
Section 1008.31(3), F.S. establishes the mission of Florida’s K-20 education system as: “to increase the proficiency of all students within one seamless, efficient system, their knowledge and skills through learning opportunities and research valued by students, parents, and communities.”
Law requires the State Board of Education to establish and maintain an accountability system that measures student progress toward the following goals:
Highest Student Achievement
Seamless Articulation and Maximum Access
Skilled Workforce and Economic Development
Quality Efficient Services
Section1001.02, F.S., provides that the State Board of education develop systemwide education goals and policies, including sector and K-20 system strategic plans.
Section 1001.10, F.S. specifies that Commissioner of Education, as the chief educational officer of the state, is responsible for giving full assistance to the State Board of Education in enforcing compliance with the mission and goals of the seamless K-20 education system.Section 1008.31(3), F.S. establishes the mission of Florida’s K-20 education system as: “to increase the proficiency of all students within one seamless, efficient system, their knowledge and skills through learning opportunities and research valued by students, parents, and communities.”
