Nature Live in the Field • Joining instructions: • Complete the booking form • Check your videoconferencing equipment (you can choose to take part online only if you don’t have videoconferencing). • Sign up for Nature Plus website: http://www.nhm.ac.uk/natureplus/ • Send your username to videoconferencing@nhm.ac.uk to be added to our secure online space for schools only • Introduce the research location to pupils and ask them to write questions for scientists about where they are going and why. • Primary teachers- Register with Nature Plus on behalf of your class ; share site with them on IWB • Secondary teachers- pupils can register individually, and send their usernames to videoconferencing@nhm.ac.uk • This will allow them to do challenges as homework if you wish. Costa Rica Botanists from the Natural History Museum are researching in Costa Rica in February. By taking part in ‘Nature Live in the Field’, pupils will develop scientific skills of observation, collecting data and communicating about science. The following knowledge and understanding will be covered (differentiated content): -Plant life cycles including parts of a plant -Variation and classification -Interdependence and adaptation Sessions have been designed to extend understanding of science in a real context (APP AF2), based on teacher consultation.
