  3. Research Question • What are the gender roles (differences) in Saudi Arabia and the United States? Also, how does punishment play a role with gender?

  4. Saudi Arabia • Women can’t be alone outside of the house • Men are expected to provide for their families • Women are not allowed to drive • Men & women are not allowed to talk to each other, if not related or married in public, in certain locations

  5. Punishments For Crimes • Based on crimes committed from previous slide • Depends solely on offense • Can range from jail time to cutting off your hand

  6. United States • Men and women are equally the same, in most ways. • Women aren’t depending on men for an income coming that much anymore. • Crimes hold the same weight for both genders

  7. Punishments in the U.S. • Based on previous slide… • Crimes are weighted the same but the difference is that some crimes are more prevalent in males rather than women.

  8. In Conclusion… • Saudi Arabia and United States are more different than most people would think. • Punishments are more severe than most people would ever imagine.
