  1. I Spy Geometry Serenity Erwin

  2. Lateral area • Lateral area is finding the area of all the faces except the base.

  3. Base • The standing of a 3-D figure.

  4. Face • The flat surface of a 3-D figure. • The places that have a face on the cube is a face.

  5. Formulas • bxh1/2 • bxh • lxw1/2 • lxw • bxhxw

  6. Nets • A 3-D figure that is unfolded and can be refolded to create the same shape again. This net below is an example of a cube net.

  7. Solid figure • A 3-D figure. • 3-D = length times height times width.

  8. Area • Area is base times height. • Area for a triangle is base times height divide by 2.

  9. Surface area • The total area of the faces (including the bases) and curved surfaces of a solid figure.

  10. Volume • The formula for volume is base times height times width.

  11. Polygon • A polygon is any closed figure as long as its closed it’s a polygon. For example this figure on the left is not a polygon but the one on the right is.

  12. Prism • A prism has 5 faces. It has 3 rectangles and 2 triangles. This shape to the right is an example of triangular prism.

  13. Pyramid • A polyhedron whose base is a polygon and whose other faces are triangles that share a common vertex.

  14. Vertex • A point at which two line segments, lines, or rays meet to form an angle.
