  1. The Trail of Tears: The Trail Where They Cried (Nunna daul Tsuny) This event is one of the saddest episodes in Georgia history. Native Americans, men, women and children, were forced from their homes and forced to walk thousands of miles in horrible conditions. The loss of life was extremely high. Why did this happen? Who was behind all this? Your job is to find out all you can about this event. You are acting as a private investigator. Look at all the clues and learn all you can. As you visit the websites, be observant, and allow yourself to look at the facts. Look, also through the eyes of the Cherokee as well as your own. For each clue, I have listed questions to be answered or actions to be taken. Be sure to complete all required information. It's up to you to find out what happened.   2. In Search of Truth: Write your name on a sheet of paper and title it My Investigation of the Trail of Tears. You may also prepare and type your paper on the computer and save it to your account. You are to click on each clue. This will take you to a new location that has valuable information. Answer the questions or complete the actions required under each clue. Write all the information required on your sheet. This will prepare you to design and publish a brochure about the Trail of Tears. This may take place in a cooperative learning group. You will then be given an opportunity to share your knowledge with others. Clue 5: • Read the Legend of the Cherokee Rose? • What caused the US government to drive the Cherokee out of GA to Oklahoma? • Explain what the colors of the flower stand for? • Did any Cherokee Survive? • I. Present Day Cherokee: • How many Cherokee live in NC today? • Who is the current Chief? • II. Language of the Cherokee: • Scroll down to “Listen” and hear food and colors in the Cherokee language.
