Concentration Camp • Definition: a place where prisoners of war are held • Sentence: She lived to tell the story of her years in the concentration camp.
declare war on • Definition: to tell a country of plans to fight against it • Sentence: Many people did not think the U.S. would declare war on Germany in 1941.
discriminate against • Definition: to harm or treat differently from others because of color, race, age, or religion • Sentence: When we discriminate against others, we are being unfair to them.
law • Definition: a rule made by the government that controls what people can and cannot do • Sentence: Our town has a law to stop people from making a lot of noise.
power • Definition: the ability to make people do what you want • Sentence: People can use their power to help others or hurt others.
