Arizona School of Dental and Oral Health • Held a PASS Dinner-N-Learn in April with a guest speaker from the ADEA PASS program. This will be a biannual event with another occurring in October-November 2008
UCLA • We are very proud to announce the conception of UCLA’s first ADEA Student Chapter. • Currently in the midst of completing on-line video tutorials of Operative and Fixed Prosthodontics preparations completed and narrated by clinical instructors
Southern Illinois • Membership drive planned • PASS presentation in the planning
University of Detroit Mercy • Created a traveling program to local universities to get undergrad students excited about dental school • organized mid semester course reviews
Nebraska • speakers on dental education • planning on having a learning session of how to have a proper CV and how to fill out PASS
Minnesota • Held “ADEA Lunch Presentations” • Have obtained official "student group status" through the university and have a bank account • Started Ethics Club
Marquette • Featured in school’s newsletter • are selling raffle tickets to win a trip to Ireland as part of a school-wide project to raise money for organizations • Trying to implement an Ethics Club
UCSF • Annual High School Outreach Conference (HSOC), on April 26, 2008. This conference was in its 5th year • Kids at UCSF Day is an expansion of Take Our Daughters to Work Day, a national program for 10 years put on to ameliorate the negative affects of sex role stereotyping on girls.
Loma Linda • -An overview of the conference was presented in their didactic course.
Oregon Health Sciences University • After a discussion on integrity and professionalism in dental schools, a fifteen minute discussion was held on issues discussed at the Annual Session including, boards, mandatory PGY1 and integrity councils
UNLV • Boy Scout Merit Badge Day • planning for our 3rd annual Dental School Simulation Courses (our last ones were in June and were awesome--150+ participants from 20+ universities).
Pacific University • Initiated selective course to introduce Boards Part I to first years. Gave overview of boards, study tips, and had panel of students for Q&A session • Sponsored big sibling simulation lab event for 2nd years to help 1st years prepare for their first operative practical.
USC • a survival guide • The DH representative is writing up an article to be published in the ADHA magazine • 1) ADEA membership and benefits, • 2) encouraging education in ethics on various dental hygiene campuses nationwide
Washington • mission statement • new positions/descriptions/requirements for chapter leadership • hosted an ADEA orientation for the class of 2012 during lunch on their first day on campus • Everyone brought their laptop to sign up
Howard University • Working with our Dean to improve the curriculum • 3 focus groups were be held in June comprised of students, faculty, staff and administration • Had PASS Lunch and Learn
University of Pittsburgh • Presentation on the Pass application process • -Peter Storandt from the national office presented to the third year class • Second annual Wet Lab Survival Caddy sale -For incoming first years
