2. 1 Cup of Plot • Molly Mackenzie Flaherty’s New Year’s resolution is to do something. She is not sure about what it is ,but she wants to do something for the war. She might want to protest ,that is no use ,just a waste of time. The only thing you would get is spending time with those hippies near the Boston Common. If I did that I would be betraying my brother ,Patrick . The government knows every body is against war but still asks people as troops any way. New Years Resolution

3. 1 Cup Plot (continued) • Everyone is worried about the war and how its going to end but the Flaherty family is more scared about Patrick Flaherty who is the war. There was always war since John F. Kennedy was assassinated .And now it is the scary Vietnam War .

4. 2 Teaspoons of CHARACTER • Patrick-Patrick Flaherty is 18 years old . He is in the army . The Flaherty family is scared that Patrick is going to get hurt • Molly-Molly Mackenzie Flaherty is Patrick Flaherty’s sister . She sends her diary to her brother so he knows what is going on in America . She does not understand the war and is trying to. • Betsy-Molly’s aunt who is nice . She also gets letters from Patrick .Very scared about him.

5. 2 Teaspoons of CHARACTER(continued) • Theresa-Patrick sends letters to her if something bad happens . She is Molly’s best friend . They are like sisters. • Mrs. Flaherty- She is Patrick’s Mother . She hates the war . She is a shy women • Mr. Flaherty- He is a firefighter and works all the time . He sends articles to Patrick so he can know about America and Football.

6. 2 Tablespoons of EXCITEMENT • In November John F. Kennedy got ASSASSINATED . This was a big crime . All was going around was wah wah wah wah because John F. Kennedy was a hero to people here in Boston . The kids in school were all dismissed early. Me and Patrick went home with other kids and made sure there parents were home . Because we wanted to make sure they were safe and sound at home . If not they would come home with us .
