  3. Food in restaurants • CottagenearRejvíz The menu was guite expensive. Some people ordered schnitzel and goulash. We tried to order sausages, but there weren´t any, even they were offered in the menu. The portion of Greek salad was too small. Discussion: We were in a great distance from suppliers.

  4. Wood from the forest • Woodworkers cut damaged wood by diseases or pests to save the forest and to help its revitalisation • The wood from the forest is further processed • There is an opposite opinion of some specialists who assume that such woods should be left on their own without the man´s interruption in the decomposing phase of the forest´s life • The reason for cutting is to change the forest structure and types of trees from spruce forest to fir-beech woods. The spruce forests are less resistant to the extreme weather conditions • The ground acidity causes the change of tree types – from spruces to pines and birches

  5. Wooden path • The path is above the ground allowing visitors to get to places which could be difficult to enter due to humidity and unstable layer of the peat bog • The path also protects flora diversity from damaging • Enables us to enter the location in frequently changing weather conditions • Regular checks and repairs are necessary • Rest points are also parts of the path

  6. Peat bog • The peat as a resource belongs to non-renewable resourses in the Czech Republic. There is a special place like that called Veľký Mecháč lake and it is inside of a spruce forest in the area of Rejvíz. But around the lake different types of trees grow like pines and birches with markedly different plants as well. According to this we can easily tell where the peat earth begins. Acid water on the top of the peat bog is a by-product of moses and lichens in the process of forming the peat layers.

  7. Playground • Part of the wood from the forest can be used to build a playground for kids, benches for the visitors or other benches around an openfire. • The wood doesn´t have to be painted to look naturally • All this would depend on a good will to created something nice and useful

  9. Beef cattle farm in Kružberk Is it an organic farm. There are two kinds of cows – 650 total (160 for milk, 130 for meat, the rest are baby cows). These cows eat only organic food and provide meat and milk in quality BIO. They provide less milk because they are not forced to give their maximum. Also it isn´t just a pure milk breed but mixture of breeds. In spite of the amount, this milk contains more fats and proteins compared to common non-organic farms. The cows are free to move in stables and outside In average 200 baby cows are born every year.

  11. Ranch in Jakartovice • Training horses • Kids can ride ponies • They offer horses shows (western, equestrian) • Restaurant, playground, swimming pool • Accommodation • The menu was only in Czech language and it was difficult to order

  13. Thursday – 7 April 2011 • UNESCO Friday – 8 April 2011 • Hnevošický háj (grove, bosk) • Family farm in Štítina

  14. Hnevošický háj(grove, bosk) This is the EU protected area on the west border of the Eastern Carpathians. Just before entering the grove, there are info tables about rare and common species of plants and amphibias in the area. We had the privilege of having a lecture by Mr. Kubačka Jr. from Natura 2000 with live presentation of animals. This was very well prepared and interesting for all age groups.

  15. Family farm in Štítina Products: • Live goat and sheep stock • Milk • Many kinds of cheese • Wool This was the last destination outside Opava in our Mobility. The best at the end, we could even try different kinds of cheese e.g. with olives, walnuts, spices etc. and striped cheese from qoat and cow milk. Actually, the family won a farmer competition with the last mentioned cheese. No wonder, it was rather delicious 
