  3. GHANA FREE ZONES BOARD PROJECTS INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT This project was over seen by Ghana Free Zones Board(GFZB). The aim was to develop infrastructure at the Tema Export Processing Zone ( fence wall and storm drain). Actual Result The first phase of the construction of on-site storm drain at the Tema EPZ/Multi Purpose Industrial Park (MPIP) being undertaken by Messrs China Hualong Construction Company has been completed.

  4. GHANA STANDARD BOARD AUTHORITY PROJECTS EXPORT COMPETITIVENESS IMPROVEMENT This project was aimed at improving export competitiveness of Ghanaian exporters Actual Result • 2,761 Certificates were issued. (82% of target achieved) • Management System of 4 Companies were also Certified • 305 Establishments and Vessels inspected. (76% of target achieved) • 408 Export consignments were inspected. (58% of target was achieve d)

  5. Private Sector Improvement This aims at improving private competitiveness domestically and globally Actual Results 15 Capacity building programmes for the industry were organized. And , 16 training programmes organized for industry. (49% of target achieved)

NATIONAL BOARD FOR SMALL SCALE INDUSTRIES PROJECTS ACCESS TO BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SERVICES AND FINANCE This project was expected to facilitate Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs’) access to business development services (BDS) and finance. Actual Result NBSSI trained 1,942 business operators in technical and management skills development. The Board offered advisory, counselling and extension services to 8,015 business operators. The Board organized entrepreneurship seminars for 661 SME operators between the period January and June, 2012. 366 new entrepreneurs were offered the required support and guidance to start their businesses. The support included access to business development services and provision of start-up kits. With the support of NBSSI 104 businesses formalized their operations by registering with the Registrar General’s Department between January and June 2012

MINISTRY OF TRADE AND INDUSTRY PROJECTS MARKETING AND DISTRIBUTION OF LOCALLY PRUDUCED COMMODITIES Also, this project aimed at Addressing inadequacies in the distribution and marketing of locally produced commodities particularly agricultural product Actual Result With funding from the UNDP, the Committee undertook a study tour and training on commodity exchanges at the Ethiopia Commodity exchange (ECX) Institute in Addis Ababa to facilitate its work in Ghana. With further funding support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ghana, a draft of Legal and Regulatory Framework for the Ghana Commodity Exchange and Warehouse Receipt System (WRS) has been developed
