  7. Progress since Vienna • An ad hoc committee was created during the 4th IGBP Congress in Cape Town (May 2008) • Meeting the 7th of may • Attended by 33 people from 13 countries • Composition: mainly based on IGBP National Committees • 1 year mandate IGFA Meeting, Mexico, 1-3 october 2008

  10. The way forward • There is a strong support from IGBP and START • There is a strong interest particularly from young african scientists • The network is needed in Africa • Of course some problems are still pending IGFA Meeting, Mexico, 1-3 october 2008
