  7. #2 – Resources A-Z • Select one of 312 specific databases to search (databases are often specialized by subject)

Interlibrary Loan • Information about ILL: http://guides.library.uwm.edu/ill • You can request anything (books, articles, book chapters, DVDs, CDs, etc)- UWM owned items and other libraries’ materials . • Submit all requests using ILLiad. • Articles are delivered electronically as PDFs to your ILLiad account, and take anywhere from a few hours to a few days to arrive. • Books, audio-visual items, and other loans typically take a week or longer to arrive. Note that some audio materials may be impossible to borrow, but we will try.

  11. Distance Education Services • Information about distance education services: http://guides.library.uwm.edu/distance • Taking all online courses? Register your ILLiad account so we can get you flagged as a DE student. • Need a UWM PantherCard/ID? See the Getting Started section in the distance education services LibGuide for information. • Articles are delivered electronically and books are mailed via FedEx to your home address (keep your address up to date in PAWS). You are responsible for their return (use USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc) or return to another UW Library if you live in Wisconsin (contact us details).

  12. Requesting using ILLiad • Manually enter requests in ILLiad, filling out as much of the form that you can. Select article, book,book chapter, etc. under New Request

  13. Quick Overview of Databases • Search for articles in Information Studies subjectdatabases (like Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts with Full Text ) • Many articles are full text

  14. Use FindIt! to Locate Full Text • Sometimes the article is available full text in another database. • Click the FindIt! Button to see other access options.

  15. Full Text Access in Other Databases • Following FindIt! shows if there is online full text in another database. Click GO for full text.

  16. Full Text Access Throughthe Publisher

  17. FindIt! Request through ILLiad • If there is no full text through another database, request the article through ILLiad.

  18. FindIt! Request through ILLiad • Click GO to obtain via Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad).

  19. ILLiad Form is Complete • After logging into ILLiad, the form is automatically filled out. Don’t forget to click Submit Request at the bottom of the page

  20. Viewing Articles in ILLiad • You will receive an email from the Interlibrary Loan office when the article is available for viewing. Log into your ILLiad account to view, download or print your articles. • Articles are on the Main Menu and under Electronically ReceivedArticles.
