  3. Biography • Date of Birth: 12 September 1973Manchester England UK • Birth Name: Darren Andrew Campbell • Height: 6' 2" (1.88 m) • Trade Mark: Olympic Sprinter for Great Britain back

  4. Darren at his youth • was brought up in a two-bedroom council flat in Sale where lived with his mother and sister • mother Marva predicted Darren to be a sprinter in the future • was both a talented athlete and footballer during his youth back

  5. Career at early age • first national success in athletics was a gold medal at the English Schools Championships in the 200 m • won the 100 m and 200 m gold medals at the European Junior Championships held in Thessaloniki, Greece in 1991 • won silver medals at theWorld Junior Championships, in the sprint double, and a gold medal in the 4 x 100 m relay in 1992 • was beaten both times by Ato Boldon back

  6. Quitting from athletics • left athletics as a result of injuries at the age of 21, 1994 • took time off from athletics to play football for clubs such as Plymouth Argyle F.C. and Newport County A.F.C. among others back

  7. Returning to athletics • returned to the track in 1995 • was sufficiently recovered enough to represent Britain in the Summer Olympic Games the following year in 1996 • made himself into a regular in the national team back

  8. Present life • is the new ambassador for Sky Living For Sport • works as a football coach (pace and acceleration specialist) back

  9. Personal best results • 60 m - 6.59s (2003) • 100 m - 10.04s (1998) • 200 m - 20.13s (2000) • from the start to the end of his career, Darren has won 14 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze medals back
