MCN’s – A Vehicle for Reconciliation? • Build around patient/user needs/experiences • Vesting authority with individuals • Organisations signing-up to delegate authority (within/across partnership?) • Focus on the service outcomes • Enables personalised, flexible services within a framework of standards • Requires information and resource sharing • The collective impact of individuals in the network makes the difference!
Some Commissioning tensions …… • Person centred services = multiple service inputs • Funding comprehensive services = multiple funding streams • Accountability = multiple organisations • Regulations and standards = multiple inspection agencies • Partnership decisions = multiple meetings and low cost denominator MCN’s well placed to navigate this maze!
A Managed Care Network for Older People • Will it work? • Will it add value? • Will it be practicable? Today will test this out – identify the critical questions – set down the ‘bottom-lines’ – spot the ‘critical success factor’s – establish some key milestones – agree the process for innovation and development
