Expeditions • Practice Day Walk • Aberfoyle • Saturday 20th April • 10am start • Practice Expedition • St Mary’s Loch • Saturday 11th – Sunday 12th May • 9am start at the school • Qualifying Expedition • Pentland Hills • Saturday 1st – Sunday 2nd June • 9am start at the school
Group Equipment • Cooking stove • Washing up liquid, scourer and tea-towel • Toilet roll • First aid kit • Food • Tent
Food Day 1 • Breakfast • at at home and make it a big one! • Lunch • Prepare your lunch at home and take it at the top of your rucksack • Dinner • Cooked in a trangia camping stove • Easy to prepare and heat up
Food Day 2 • Breakfast • You will make your breakfast on your camping stove so it should follow the same principles as dinner, being quick to cook or heat up • Lunch • Made at home and taken in a sturdy box • Filling and nutritious • Will keep overnight
Snacks • Should be kept in a pocket on the side of your rucksack in easy reach: • Fruit that wont get squashed (apples, oranges etc) • Crisps • Nuts • Dried fruit, chocolate raisins etc • Chocolate bars • Cereal bars • Juice/water • Sweets • Spare sandwiches
Extras • A flask • Hot chocolate, coffee, tea bags • Sugar • Salt and pepper sachets • Tomato/brown sauce sachets Remember you will have to carry them all weekend!
Footwear • Properly fitting/broken in • Ankle support • Rigid soles • Trainers for the campsite
Socks • Thick walking socks • Bed socks • Dry socks!
Trousers • 2 pairs of trackies or walking trousers • Leggings • Waterproof trousers • No jeans • No pyjamas
Layers • Plenty thin layers • A warm jumper • A waterproof jacket • No cotton
Layers • Hat • Gloves • This is Scotland after all!
Toiletries • Toothbrush • Toothpaste • Baby wipes • Soap • Small towel • Ladies – remember you have to carry it all for 2 days when you think about packing make up or nail varnish!
Medical Information • Pupils take responsibility for their own medication • Painkillers in first aid kits • Teachers must be informed
Other essentials • Sleeping bag • Anything you need to complete your expedition aim
